A red wine story…

If you have an appreciation for red wines, we invite you to visit us at our cellar door. Sussex Squire Wines is a small, family-owned, award-winning winery and our cellar door located high on the hill at 470m with views over our vineyard in the Clare Valley. We specialize in producing limited quantities of dry-grown, single vineyard Clare Valley red wines. Our yields, which range from 1 to 3 tons, result in only 60 to 150 dozen bottles of each wine variety, including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Malbec, Mataro, and Grenache. Due to our limited production, our wines are exclusively available only at our cellar door or through our online wine store.

For those interested in learning more about the Clare Valley red wine heritage and exploring the unique varieties that distinguish this region from other red wine regions in Australia, we encourage you to join us for a tasting. As fourth-generation farmers in the Clare Valley, we are dedicated to sourcing and cultivating small parcels of fruit to create wines with depth and intensity from exceptional vineyards. Especially our favourite, the highly awarded estate dry grown Thomas Block Shiraz that is produced from our highest vineyard at 480m. Guided by vintage conditions, our small batch red wines reflect these conditions and narrate a story. We manage our vineyards organically and sustainably, and our wines are aged in both old and new French oak barrels, remaining unfined and unfiltered.
